Volunteer with Us
We WOOF our volunteers! The Barking Lot is located within a NYC public park. The only people that keep the Barking Lot clean and safe are the dedicated volunteers that use it. NYC Parks Dept. employees do not go into the dog park except to occasionally empty the garbage cans (which they are not obliged to do). It’s up to all of us to refill holes, pick up poop and garbage, follow and enforce the rules and be responsible dog owners. Please do your part.
Want to take it to the next level? Contact us if you would be willing to share your time and talents in support of the Barking Lot.
Opportunities include helping out at clean-ups and community events, student community service opportunities, and serving on our Leadership Committee.
The Barking Lot’s Leadership Committee is a passionate, innovative, and dog-crazy team that meets monthly to lead the Barking Lot’s advocacy, community, and maintenance efforts. We are always in need of folks who can share their skills in the following areas:
- Legal Services
- Maintenance
- Event Planning
- Fundraising
- Grant Writing
- Accounting
- Record Keeping
- Marketing and Communications
- Social Media
- Graphic Design
- Coding
- Local Government & Community Liaisons (LGL & CL)
